About GeoWyrm's Geocaching Supplies
Important: We will be switching to a new website host as of December 31. We are working very hard to maintain the current site through the busy holiday season, as well as preparing the new site for launch. We hope to have a seamless transition but acknowledge there may be an occasional bump along the way. Please feel free to contact us immediately with any problems, and we appreciate your continued support during this time of growth and change! Thank you for your interest in GeoWyrm's Geocaching Supplies, a Canadian company based in Calgary, Alberta. If you want to learn more about geocaching, please visit geocaching.com.
GeoWyrm's Geocaching Supplies began in 2010 as a simple concept to bring in high demand items for local geocachers. The demand became so high that the company went online in 2011 and has been rapidly expanding ever since. GeoWyrm's Geocaching Supplies is an official distributor for Groundspeak as well as resellers for Landsharkz, CoinsAndPins.com, Cache Advance, GeoSwag / Oakcoins, Cache Addict and PHD Coins. We proudly carry a variety of items produced by local talent. We are always on the lookout for something new, so if you have suggestions please feel free to contact us.
Shamus and Dawn (the Wyrm's) are very active in the local geocaching community. In 2011 they helped plan WestCan1, "The Best of the Bad". It officially became Western Canada's first MEGA just after noon on July 16th, 2011. Congratulations to the coordinators, hiders and attendees of WestCan2 "Island Spirit 2012" in Duncan, BC and WestCan3 "Gold Country Poker Run". Now looking forward to WestCan4 in Saskatchewan in 2014! http://www.livingskies2014.ca/
By 2012, in addition to the store, Dawn and Shamus are the geocaching liaisons to the City of Calgary. They also taught a geocaching class at a local school, they are presenting at many community events to integrate geocaching and environmental awareness and are partners with Calgary Public Libraries to celebrate their centennial and put on geocaching 101 courses. They have led team building hiking and geocaching events, and set up treasure hunts for birthdays. However, nothing beats mentoring a new cacher on a one to one basis! The Wyrms always try to be available to new cachers to answer questions and help everyone get the fullest enjoyment out of a cherished past time.
We are pleased to help promote Gold Country GeoTourism and the Iron Horse Trail! Gold Country is located in the southern interior of British Columbia, easily accessible by four major highways; Trans Canada Hwy 1, Hwy 97 North, Hwy 99 and Coquihalla Hwy 5. Iron Horse Trail covers a large part of the Lakeland area in NE Alberta.
Special thanks to the local geocaching community! Your support has been amazing. If you are in the Calgary Area, please come out to a local event. On the last Thursday of each month there is usually a family-friendly "Pizza and Beer" night hosted by avid Calgary geocacher One Bad Ant. The Calgary Cache and Release (CCAR) is a big event that happens twice a year. Find out more information by visiting the website by clicking here, or copy any of the links in your browser to take you to the individual events. We also carry the tribute geocoin for the CCAR, find it at Calgary Cache and Release Coin .
